1. Carbon Fiber

It’s lighter than standard aluminum (typically 5–6 oz) with better vibration damping than straight titanium. The grip tape wears through faster, and once it dents in a check zone it starts to weaken structurally. Price range: $25–$60. There’s zero shame in starting here. There’s a lot of shame in still using one at the varsity level.

5. Composite / Hybrid Blends

They’re heavier than true carbon, less durable than a solid alloy, and the delamination risk is real if you play in cold weather or take repeated checks in the same spot.
