Welcome to the March lacrosse recruiting roundup 2026 — prime recruiting season is here, and the commitments have been rolling in. The Class of 2027 is starting to take shape at the top programs, and some of these decisions are going to look very smart in about three years. Here’s the roundup of the significant commits that dropped this month and what they mean for the programs landing them.
Jake Mercer (Attack) — Committed to Maryland
Mercer is a stick-skills-first attackman out of Smithtown, New York who plays for Long Island Express. Maryland’s attack pipeline is already deep, and this addition just makes it ridiculous. Mercer has the kind of off-ball movement and catch-and-shoot ability that turns a good attack unit into an elite one. Maryland made this happen early, which tells you how high they had him rated. Class of 2027. Smart commitment, smart program.
Tyler Osei (Midfielder) — Committed to Syracuse
Osei plays for Team 91 out of New Jersey and brings the kind of two-way athleticism that Syracuse covets. He covers ground like a safety and plays physically without being dirty. Beyond that, he has improved his offensive game significantly over the past eighteen months. Syracuse’s transition game should be terrifying with players like this coming in. The Orange faithful should be very happy about this one. Class of 2027.
Connor Farrell (LSM/Defense) — Committed to Notre Dame
Long-stick players who can also contribute in transition are as valuable as anything in the modern game. Farrell out of St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire is exactly that player. He plays for Prime Time Lacrosse, and his film shows a guy who understands defensive positioning at a level you don’t often see from players his age. Notre Dame is getting a difference-maker on the back end. Class of 2027.
Declan Walsh (Goalie) — Committed to Virginia
Virginia landing a goalie commit in March is news because the Cavaliers have been meticulous about building their goalie pipeline, and they don’t settle. Walsh, out of Baltimore County and playing club with Lax Dogs, has the size, the reflexes, and — critically — the composure that Virginia demands. Virginia goalies have a history of developing into elite players under their coaching staff. Walsh chose well. Class of 2028.
Aidan Kowalski (Attack) — Committed to Denver
This one might be the most interesting of the month. Kowalski is an Illinois-based player from the Midwest club scene — not the Long Island or Baltimore pipeline — and his commitment to Denver continues the Pioneers’ strategy of finding skilled players outside the traditional recruiting corridors. Denver has made that approach work repeatedly. Moreover, Kowalski has a finishing ability that translates regardless of geography. Class of 2027.
Mia Santos (Attack) — Committed to Northwestern (Women’s)
On the women’s side, Santos out of San Diego and playing for West Coast Starz is a name to remember. She’s a legitimate dual-threat — draws and finishes, doesn’t need to specialize yet — and Northwestern saw enough to lock her up early. The Wildcats don’t miss on recruits. Class of 2027.
March Lacrosse Recruiting Roundup 2026: What the Commitments Tell Us
The geography of recruiting continues to broaden, which is good for the game. Five years ago, a Maryland or Syracuse commitment was almost always coming from within two hours of campus. Now programs are pulling from the Midwest, the Southeast, and the West Coast — the national footprint of lacrosse is paying dividends. Programs that adapted their recruiting operation to that reality are landing better classes. Programs that still rely on the same ZIP codes are going to get left behind.
For the players: congratulations to every one of them. These are significant decisions made at a young age, and every one of these kids put in years of work to earn this moment. The best is ahead.
